Benjamin White

Residence: The homestead inherited from his father at 751 Reynolds Road, West Glocester, RI. He bought the shares of his sibling's interests in his father's estate to acquire the whole of the homestead once owned by his father.

1815, April 19- Appointed guardian of his minor brother Humphrey, Jr. by the Probate Court of Glocester, RI.

1859, May 6- He mortgaged his homestead farm in West Glocester, RI and moved in with his son, Gilbert F. White, daughter in law, Mary, and infant grandson Everett White in Smithfield, RI. He died almost four years later.

1869- Gilbert F. White bought out the other heirs of the old White homestead and kept the homestead in the family.

He was described in JH Beers Genealogies as a quiet, dignified man of sound judgement and good common sense, his advice and counsel were often sought by and freely given to his neighbors and friends. Also, a very temperate man, not common in those days.

Siblings: probably Meribah (White) Hutchinson, David born circa 1790 married Phebe H. and moved to Collins, Erie Co., New York, Elizabeth born circa 1791 married Peleg Wood of Glocester, RI, Humphrey, Jr. born circa 1792 married Tenty and moved to Collins, Erie Co., New York, Martha born circa 1793, Rhoda married Erastus Clark of Collins, Erie Co., New York, Jonathan (1806-1850) married Miranda Wade and is buried in Glocester Historical Cemetery # 5 near 743 Reynolds Road, West Glocester, RI, William (1807-1866) married Drusilla Rork Chase and is buried in Glocester Historical Cemetery #5, and Nancy who married Aaron Cutler of Killingly, Connecticut.
