About Benoni Stebbins
The name Benoni ("Son of Sorrow") comes from Genesis 35:18 "And it came to pass, as her soul was departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin."
Survivor of Falls Fight, King Philip's War. Fought under Capt. William Turner.
He was a casualty of the Deerfield Massacre of 29 Feb 1702
His first wife, married about 1676 or 1677, was Mary Broughton Bennett Stebbins, widow of James Bennett of Northampton. His second wife, married about 1691, was Hannah Atkinson Edwards Stebbins, widow of Joseph Edwards. She later married, as his second wife, Thomas French.
He was the son of John Stebbins and Ann Munson Stebbins of Northampton.
Children(by first marriage): Ebenezer Stebbins, Thankful Stebbins, Abigail Stebbins, Mindwell Stebbins, Joseph Stebbins, and Esther Stebbins.
