There is a lot of confusion because there were two Benoni Phelps in Windsor, Connecticut at about the same time. This one was born in 1699 and died before 1716. His father was Joseph and his mother was SARAH Hosford. The other Benoni was born in 1695 and died Feb 1609. His father was Joseph and his mother was ESTHER Hosford, hence the confusion since both fathers were named Joseph Phelps and both mothers' surnames were Hosford. There is a vital record for the other Benoni, who died in Feb. 1609 and since there is apparently no vital record for this Benoni, people have mistakenly given this Benoni's date of death as Feb. 1609 as well.

Born Jun. 24, 1694 or June 24, 1699 (Pane-Joyce Genealogy) in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut, Benoni Phelps' name was not mentioned in his father's will.

Death is given as Feb. 10, 1709 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut by both Find A Grave and Pane-Joyce but this is likely due to confusion with the other Benoni Phelps. We know that this one died before his father's will because he is not mention. Another source says he died before 1716. He is buried in Andover Road Cemetery in Hebron, Tolland County, Connecticut.

His parents were Joseph Phelps (1666 - 1716) and Sarah Hosford Phelps (1666 - 1757).
