Beriah Hotchkiss

"Sacred to the memory of Rev Beriah Hotchkin, late Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Greenville, NY who departed this life January 29 1829 in the 77th year of his age and 44th year of his ministry. Distinguished in life by the virtues which adorn the Christian ministry; he died in the possession of a confident hope of a glorious resurrection through the merits of his savior, Jesus Christ."

Beriah was elected Deacon in Cornwall. Guilford CT on October 5th 1782.

Rev. Beriah Hotchkin is the Author of: "A Funeral Discourse Occasioned by the death of Beriah Bishop M.B. Who died August 27th, 1805, in the 27th year of his age, in which the deceased is represented as addressing his surving friends" See a picture of the new version -featured right.

Beriah Hotchkin received an Honorary Masters of Arts Degree from Yale University in 1794; "This degree was the principal honorary degree awarded between 1702 and 1773. Since 1902 it has been awarded privatim to certain persons not already holding M.A. or Ph.D. degrees from Yale: members of the Corporation, members of the faculty appointed to the rank of Professor, and other officers."
