Distinguished in life by the virtues which adorn the Christian ministry; he died in the possession of a confident hope of a glorious resurrection through the merits of his savior, Jesus Christ."

Beriah Hotchkin received an Honorary Masters of Arts Degree from Yale University in 1794; "This degree was the principal honorary degree awarded between 1702 and 1773. Since 1902 it has been awarded privatim to certain persons not already holding M.A. or Ph.D. degrees from Yale: members of the Corporation, members of the faculty appointed to the rank of Professor, and other officers."
