Note: He was from Krebsfelde, Prussia. National Archives microfilm #T81 610, p. 5401365 states he was born 21 Mar 1781. In the Nov 1811 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed in Schoenhorst among the landless. In the May 1813 Census he is listed at Neu-Osterwick #12. Henry Schapansky says John Dyck is wrong that his father is Bernhard, and it is this Bernhard who is son of Hans. BHU p.304 says his wife was Helena Penner. One record gives his birthdate as 21 Mar 1781. The connection between Bernhard and Johann Klippenstein is speculative and based on the coincidence that they both lived in Krebsfeld and that Berhard's 2nd son was named Johann (1st son named Heinrich after Katharina Penner's father). Mennonite Historian Dec 2001 p2 says that David Epp's diary entry for Bernhard's funeral states that Bernhard had twelve children.
