KENNETH A. BATTEATE, SR., a native Californian and a resident of Hayward, passed away quietly in his home on at 70 with his wife of 45 years, Joy Lee Hand Batteate, by his side.

Ken was born in Oakland to the late Henry Nicholas and Bernice Dutra Batteate.

Ken is survived by his son, Kenneth A. Batteate Jr. and wife Lori Eatmon Batteate of Hayward, his daughter Sheila Lee Batteate Dutt and husband Earl Dutt. He was preceded in death by his infant son Ronald Albert. Ken is also survived by his 3 brothers, Henry "Jim" Batteate and wife Lou of San Lorenzo, brother Albert "Abbie" Batteate and wife Allison Leal Batteate of Livermore, and Ronald "Ronnie" Batteate and wife Tammy Fields Batteate of Turlock. 5 grandchildren Mo McKenzie and Benicia Rush of Twin Falls, Idaho, Tiffany L. Batteate, Felicia L. Batteate and Duke A. Batteate of Hayward. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews in CA.

Ken served 8 years in the U.S. Army, touring in Korea, Panama, and Vietnam, and was a proud veteran.

He was the owner/ operator of Ken Batteate Trucking for over 30 years.

Ken will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He loved to tell stories of his experiences throughout his life and was an avid conversationalist at all times.

Ken's battle with cancer for the last 14 years has been fought with gusto and hope.

Thomas, I was the wife of Kenneth Allen Batteate whose parents were Henry Nicholas Batteate and Bernice Dutra. Henrys parents were Nicholas Joseph and Ida Lavoroni. Ida's parent were Charles, born in Italy and Maria born in Italy. Marias last name is hard to make out on her papers from funeral home. Could be Coni or Covi. I met your grandmother many years ago when she visited the bay area. Quite a lady. Glad to make a contact on the Batteate line.
