Bert Glen Burnett was the son of John Aquilla Burnett 1863 – 1948 and Mary Ella Hodges 1865 – 1937. His siblings were: Albert Williamson Burnett 1885; Maude Clemens Burnett 1886 – 1887; Guy Solomon Burnett 1891 – 1957; Walker Burnett 1894 – 194; Guy Solomon Burnett 1896 – 1986 and Barbara Harriet Burnett 1898 – 1955.

In the 1900 census Bert was 11 years old, and going to school in Summit, Callaway, Missouri where his parents owned their home and farm, free from debt.

On Aug 16 1911 Bert married Lorene Mary Elizabeth Henson. From this union the following children were born: Mildred Helen Burnett 1913 – 1998; Gladys Beatrice Burnett 1915 – 1916; Bert Glen Burnett Jr. 1917 – 1987 and Wilma Faye Burnett 1922 – 1989.

On June 6. 1917, when Bert went to fill out his WWI draft card, he was residing in Ottawa, Oklahoma. He was a Fright Conductor for the Oklahoma Kansas and Missouri Railroad. He had a wife with 2 children, ages 4 yrs. old and 3 mo. old to as dependents, He was medium hight and medium build, with gray eyes and brown hair.

The 1930 census found Bert and Lorene renting a house for $35.00 a month at 120 15th Street, near Broadway in Ada, Pontotoc, Oklahoma. This was during the heart of the Great Depression and Bert was out of work at the time that the census was taken. He was a contractor for building construction, and had he had been with out work for 22 weeks the in 1929, and he had a wife and 3 school age children to support. One plus for them was that they reported that they had a radio in the home, so they had the news of the national development, and a little entertainment.

By 1935 they had moved on to Long View, Gregg, Texas. No documentation tell when they made this move or how long they stayed there. The 1940 census reveal that they were renting a house at 112 Morgan street for $25.00 a month in Denison, Grayson, Texas. Bert was now the owner and employer of a Trucking Line. Their daughter, Mildred had married Frank R Crabtree, and they and their 7 year old son were living in the household. Frank had found employment as a welder and had worked 32 weeks the prior year for $1,000.00.

U.S. City Directories, in 1955 confirmed that Bert G Burnett was living at 501 W Acheson in Denison, Texas. His occupation was a Contractor.

Texas Death Index, confirms that Bert Glenn Burnett Sr, died on 28 Aug 1956 . His son Bert G. Burnett Jr. was informant for his death certificate that farther relates that he had been admitted to the Allen Memorial hospital in Bonham, Fannin Co, Texas. Joe A. Risier M.D. attended him from July 13, 1956 until Aug. 28, 1956. The cause of his demise was listed as Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, a contributing condition was Pulmonary tuberculosis. At 12:40 PM Bert exhaled his last breath and his spirit returned to God his Maker. His body was taken to Bratcher Funeral Home to be prepared for his burial on Aug. 31, when Berts family and friends gathered at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Grayson County, Texas, to bid there beloved Bert farewell.
