About Bertha Grace Eaton
The following story was provided by Charlotte Heiney to Mark Davis. (May 2015) "I always remember the story about Aunt Grace's life. It was a true love story. Back then people married young. Grace was all of 14 when a man named Hen Eaton approached my grandmother Laura about marring her.
Grace begged and begged them not to make her marry that old man. He was considerably older and had only one leg. However, he had a little money and some land so they thought they were helping her to marry well. So they insisted and she married Hen Eaton. Some time after that she fell in love with a handsome man named Louis Clayton Inabinette (may not be spelled right) who was married and had several children.
One evening Grace and Louie arranged to meet at a predetermined location. Louie road up with his buckboard and horse to meet his love. They left in the middle of the night and never returned to KY or their families. They settled in Franklin, IN. They both went by their second names after that which were Louis and Grace. They never married because they were both married to other's and never had children. (I will think of Aunt Grace's first name by the time we talk tomorrow."
Notes from Kathy Walker: "YOU MAY KNOW THIS BUT IF YOU DON'T HERE IT IS...BERTHA GRACE DIDN'T HAVE ANY CHILDREN...SHE RAN OFF WITH LOUIE INABNITT...KNOW ONE IS REALLY SURE IF THEY WERE REALLY MARRIED...WHEN THEY RAN OFF TOGETHER HE WAS MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE & HAD A LOT OF KIDS HE LEFT BEHIND..."
