About Bertram Egerton Bowker
Bertram lead a colorful life and traveled extensively as a young man. He prospected for diamonds during the diamond rush in South Africa and joined in the gold rush as well. He spent some time in India, and settled on the family farm when he was older where he became a bee keeper. At one stage he had the biggest hive in the world, he accomplished this by collecting a number of hives, removing all but one of the queens and then shaking them up in bags with some flour. His theory was that by the time the bees have cleaned all the flour off themselves they would all be friends! It seemed to work and he happily supplied honey to the community for years. In old age his developed serious health issues and commited suicide.
