Betty was born to Emil and Olga Opland on November 5, 1927, in Des Lacs, North Dakota.
She married Virgil Aker on November, 7, 1946, in Sidney, Montana. The couple farmed in North Dakota until 1965, when they moved to Rapid City. In 1973, they moved to Whitewood, South Dakota.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood, South Dakota.
Survivors include her sons, Marlyn, Sturgis, South Dakota; and Mitchell (Crystal), Sturgis, South Dakota; daughters, Jeannie (Bill) Triplet, Black Hawk, South Dakota; and Virginia Albert, Sturgis, South Dakota; brothers, Lyle Opland, Minot, North Dakota; Gene Opland, Des Lacs, North Dakota; Floyd Opland, Enumclaw, Washington; and Lloyd Opland, Seattle, Washington; daughter-in-law, Pat Aker, La Salle, Colorado.
And 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Aker; parents, Emil and Olga Opland, and a son, Michael Aker.
