Betty Marie Hofacre

ORRVILLE — Betty M. Bertsch Berg, 92, formerly of Orrville, died at Smithville Western Care Center on Oct. 27, 2017, following a period of declining health.

She was born in West Lebanon on March 4, 1925, the daughter of Altie G. and Mary (Groff) Hofacre. She was united in marriage to Lester Bertsch in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1978. In 1980, she was united in marriage to Curtis Berg, who died in 2010.

Betty had been employed at the J. M. Smucker Co. in the production line, retiring in 1956. She was a life member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening. She was a former volunteer for the Red Cross bloodmobile for 15 years.

She is survived by a son, Ronald (Kathy) Bertsch, and a daughter, Connie (Chris) Badertscher, both of Orrville; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kelly) Bertsch, Jacqulyn Wolsky, Laura (Eric) Ewing, Bradley (Erin) Bertsch, Aaron (Katie) Badertscher, Jason (Beth) Badertscher and Nathan (Sheri) Badertscher; 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Bertsch (David) Crawford of Loris, S.C.; and sisters, Ruth McBeth, Blanche Barner and Maxine Siffrin.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Bertsch; sisters, Bertha Feller, Helen Nelson, Florence Martin and Evelyn Silvius; and a brother, Glen Hofacre.

The family would like to thank Wayne Manor, Smithville Western Care Center and LifeCare Hospice for their loving care of Betty.

There will be no public calling hours or services. Private services will be held at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville at the convenience of the family. The Rev. David Rittgers will officiate. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
