Peter, could you give me your Lallemant line including titles with the wives? I'm trying to build a family tree of the catholic saint Gabriel Lallemant .

The Lallemant hotel in Bourges is the Musée des Arts décoratifs building.

------------------------------------

Our connections to the Lallemant/Lalemant and Pelorde/Pellorde family is back a few years, however I shall try and put it together for you.

There are two of our ancestors married to a Lallemant.

Marie LeRoy married Guillaume Lallemant around 1420 to 1425. Both were in their 20's at the time.

Marie is a daughter of Jacques LeRoy 1363-1434 born in Villeneuve, France and at one time had a title of Seigneur de Villanueva - mind you titles were available if you had the right money or biggest sword

This person is of some interest as we are still searching for documentation as to how it went from his hands to William de Languedoue who had the title by 1476.

Marie had 6 siblings. Martin, Jacques, Jacqueline, Louis, Thierry and another Jacqueline.

We believe that this Jacques is the one mentioned with regard to the rebuilding of Saint Florent "the castle of Saint-Florent, built by Jacques LeRoy in 15th century, accepted the garrison of prince de Condé, owner of the place since 1625".

Louis was born in 1418 and married a girl of the De Thiboutat family - her name is yet to be found.

They had at least one son, Jean, born 1473 in Couche, Normandie and married Antoinette De Beaumont in 1498. She was born in 1477 also in Couche. They had a son, Claude born in 1499.

Back to the siblings of Marie LeRoy Lallemant.

Jacqueline married Macé Rolland about 1400.

And of course Martin 1384-1453) who is my direct ancestor with the fancy title of 'Maitre d l'Hotel de Jean de France, Duc de Berry'. He was also an avocat.

Martin was married to another Lallemant, Bienvenue born in 1415.

Her parents were Jean Lallemant and Jeanne Pelorde. Bienvenue had two siblings, Guillaume and Isabeau.

It is Guillaume who married the previously mentioned Marie LeRoy. I suppose marrying a close relative didn't mater where estates and money were concerned back then.

Isabeau married Etienne L'Hopital and they had 3 children.

Jacquette married Nicolas Sarde. They had 2 children Marguerite who married Guillaume Chambellan and Esperance who married Phillippe De Sauzay.

Phillipe's mother was Perette LeRoy. The daughter of the above Martin and Bienvenue Lallemant.

Yes, we did keep it in the family.

So! Back to Jean Lallemant born about 1380 and his wife Jeanne Pelorde.

Jean Lallemant's parents were Hugonin Lalemant and Jacqueline Trousseau.

Hugonin's parents were Etienne Lallemant born 1335 and Jeanne De Haustemer - her father was Huet De Haustemer.

Etienne's parents were Pierre Lallemant born about 1315 and Jeanne?

Etienne had 3 siblings. Guillaume, Manon and Marguerite.

Back to Martin LeRoy. His father was Seigneur de St Florent sur Cher et de Mouliney Guillaume born in 1319 in Bretagne and married Marguerite in 1360 in Bretagne. Jacques had 5 siblings.

Guillaume's father was Gautier and so we go back to our current first LeRoy ancestor being researched Albert LeRoy de Machi) in 1177. One reference we have at present is from the De Ponthieu family history "Est témoin d'une donation de Simon de MACHI à l'abbaye de VALOIRES en 1177. Witnessed a gift made by Simon de Machi to the Abbaye of Valoires in 1177"

Back in the late 1300's we know that one of the 2 Robin LeRoy's, was Archbishop of D'Abbeville. Which brings our family across from Normandie/Bretagne.

Although we know that the family had large land holdings already around Bourges by that time.

Back to Martin. One of his uncles also married a Pellorde.

Perenille Pellorde marries Paul LeRoy. They have a daughter who marries Jean Georges, Avocat de Jean I Duc de Berry.

That line takes us down into the Bonin family.

Further down our direct ancestor line we come to Jacques. Who may be of interest to you. Jacques LeRoy born in 1480 in Saint Malo, Bretagne and died 1572 in Bourges, at the age of 92 - very old for those days.

At one time he was Archbishop of Bourges after having been an Abbot at St. Florent for some time. He was also "married' to Françoise Beuzet for a short time.

His father was Jean who was an advocate, a lawyer. Jean's father was Thierry - Maitre des Requetes de l’Hotel du Roy- and Thierry was one of the sons of Martin.

And there you have some of our long history. I have left out much that would be of no great interest to you, but I hope that it almost explains our "links" to the Lallemant family.

And so we find money, swords, land, politics and then around the early 1500 we begin to think about this new Reformation religion.

Yes, we had Catholic and Huguenot in the same family, both sides well placed, so it would seem, at the same time.

We have not gone any further with the Lallemant research as it for the moment is not of great interest to us as a family. Apart from "general" family interest.

I believe that Gabriel Lallemant was actually a Canadian. And that is yet another part of our extended family. I have been discussing our genealogy with someone from Quebec. It is looking as though we may have found a common ancestor who went to Canada in the early Acadian days.

Good Luck with your family research and if I can assist any further please let me know.

Kind Regards, Peter LeRoy CREATE A FREE WEBSITE POWERED BY
