Gouldbrand (Dale-Gudbrand?), the third and great Hersa of Gouldbrandsdall, was the first we mentioned as a Christian, to which faith he was converted by St. Olaus, the pious, King of Norway. — He kept his court at Brown (Fron?), where he built a church, and having married Ossa, daughter of Suend, the sirst Earl of Orkney and Shetland, had issue by her three sons and two daughters, viz.

• Gouldbrand ;
• Forbrand, of whom hereafter;
• Colbrand [who attended St. Olaus into England, where he was slain by Hugh Earl of Warwick. — He married Raugnhilda, daughter of Sigurd of Leirollen in Walders (Valdres?), and from him are descended the Knights of Gouldbransdall, and many families of repute in Norway and England]; daughter
• Wilfhilda, who married Finkol, a distinguished Nobleman of Sliva in Walders (Valdres); and
• Broghilda (Borghilda?), who married Erling (Erlend?) of Gierda (Gjerde?), a Noble Lord of Sagn (Sogn?), by whom she was ancestor of Magnus Erlingson, King of Norway.
