B.C. LARRIMORE, the eldest of B.G. Larrimore's five children, all sons, was born in Hart County, KY, December 8, 1853. B.G. Larrimore was a native of Green Co., KY, and was born January 23, 1825. He was the son of James and Letitia (Whitlow) Larrimore, the former of whom was a native of North Carolina, the latter of Kentucky.
James Larrimore was an extensive farmer and slave owner in his native State and came to Green County, Ky, early in life and there married. He became the father of eight children: P.S., B.G., Constant, B.H., James, Parthenia A. (Watson), Arena (Strader) and Katharine Ann (Beard).
B.G. Larrimore received a good English education in youth. At the age of twenty-seven, he married Miss Sarah B. Hiser, the second of two children, a son and a daughter, born to Reuben and Elizabeth (Houk) Hiser, both natives of Kentucky and of German origin. The following children were born in this union: B.C., L.W., V.L., B.M. and S.H. Mr. Larrimore and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and he is a member of the Masonic order and a Democrat in politics.
B.C. Larrimore attended his neighborhood schools in youth, and in his twenty-second year attended Gilead Institute one term--thus acquiring a thorough English education. He assisted his father on the farm until his twenty-fourth year when he accepted the appointment of commissioner on the south side of Green River, in Hart County, which position he filled six years.
He then began selling goods at Knob Lick, in Metcalfe County, and three months afterward quit and farmed one year after which he opened a store of general merchandise at Seymour, Hart County which he still continues to carry on. He began the business with $1600 and has steadily increased his stock as his trade, which is large, demanded.
He is a member of the Cosby congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he has been steward. In politics, he is a Democrat. He does a thriving business and attends to it all himself.
