About Brig. Gen. Andrew Dunlop, 20th of that Ilk
Andrew Dunlop, esq. of that Ilk. This gentleman entering into the military of his country, served in the first American war, and attained the rank of major. He afterwards raised a regiment of horse the Ayrshire fencible cavalry, which he commanded until its reduction in 1800. Sometime, subsequently, he was sent to the West Indies and dying unmarried, in 1804, a brigadier-general, in command of the troops the island of Antigua, he was succeeded by his brother.
