Taught a few years at Bacone Indian College in Muscogee, Ok., then taught shop at Broken Arrow High School, then taught with his sister V. Oleta Laney grades 1-8 in Oak Grove Country School on 51ST Street west of Oak Grove Road, N.E. of Broken Arrow through 1958, when we began dairy farming, growing the herd of Holsteins to 110 cows being milked twice a day in the late 1960's and early 70's, plus growing much of our grain and all of our hay, feeding 40 square bales a day in winter. Total herd reached 165 head, plus horses and six dogs used on the farm, and over 30 cats for mice control. After I married 21 June 1971 and left home, Buell tried hiring numerous FFA and other boys to help him dairy, but sold his herd summer of 1973, then later went back into dairying, but they would have required massive upgrades to sell Grade A milk that he sold before, so he sold to Pet milk, with the same procedures and equipment he formerly got paid Grade A rates for. After a while he converted to beef cattle till the mid 90's in his mid 70's when he rented his place to other beef cattle operators until he took his own life in his home at 95 years 7 months of age on Valentine's day 14 February 2014. I, Jon, and wife Connie now live in the old farmhouse that he had built in 1948 east of County Line where HW51 is now, and moved here in about 1952, and got electricity in 1955,well water until the mid 70's he got rural water, Coal stoves until 1967, I plumbed whole house for propane, and he converted to natural gas during the LPG shortage in 1973, we got inside toilet in 1963 when he added on to the house, and we got a party line phone in 1966 so Dad could advertise and sell his bull calves.
