March 26, 1944 Springfield Republican:DEATH OF BYRON BROWN OF SHELBURNE FALLSShelburne Falls, March 25 - Byron Brown, 69, for many years a resident of this town, died this morning in the Franklin County hospital at Greenfield, where he had been a patient for about a month.He was a native of Colrain, the son of Orville and Nora Brown. He moved to Shelburne Falls when a young man, and for many years was employed by the Western New England Telephone company. He is survivied by his widow, the former Miss Minerva Batchelder; a son Harry J of this town and a daughter Mrs Theodore Dyer of Brunswick Me.; three borhters Clifford and Jed of Greenfield and Charles of Hoosick, N.Y., and five grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday at 4 at Johnson's funeral home, with Rev Thomas J Cate, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Nrth River cemetery, Colrain.
