He died on October 9, 1968 in Veterans Administration Hospital, Houston, Harris County, Texas, United States from Bacterial Pneumonia. Cerebral Atrophy due to Arteriosclerosis. and was buried after October 9, 1968 in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Bland Lake, San Augustine County, Texas, USA.

Caleb Gary Sr. was married to (1) Dorothy Williams in 1917/1918 Bexar County, Texas, where he was stationed in US Army Boot Camp. He cooked on the front lines during World War I where he was gassed and almost died. Another soldier pulled him away and got him help that saved his life.
Dorothy died from pneumonia when she was expecting their fourth child, January 26, 1926, age 34. She was was buried in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas where her parents Dink Williams and Betty Wood Williams are buried and several of Caleb's relatives. Their three children were: Opal Gary, Gloris Gary, and Caleb Gary Jr. Caleb later lived in Houston County, Texas, where he was a barber.
Caleb Gary married (2) Hazel Key September 3,1933, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. The children of Caleb and Dorothy loved Hazel. They said she treated them as her own children.
Caleb and his brother Silas were twins. Their parents were Isaac William Gary and Nancy Ann Wright who were buried in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas where Caleb's paternal Grandparents Govy Gary and Mary Jackson Carter Gary were buried. His maternal Grandmother Louisiana (Jacks) Wright is also buried at Wood Cemetery.
