Mike Rhodes remembers Joe Fraslin as a quiet and very religious man. He was born in France in 1898 and moved to Calgary with a brother in the 20's. He worked for AT&T. He was the telegraph operator in Yosemite Valley. He was friends with Ansel Adams. He lived in San Francisco during the 40's with his brother. He was also a friend of Maynard Dixon. He was fascinated with the American West. He was a good man.
He was a bachelor all of his life until he married Emily. They met at Bank of America where he would speak French to her. When they married, he was 73 and she was 60. He died of a heart attack driving back from taking Emily on a trip to Carmel.
