In May 1760 Captain Caleb Lake traveled along with 7 family members from Newport, Rhode Island to Newport, Nova Scotia. Caleb was one of the first land grantees to receive a land grant from the Crown after the Acadian deportation. Caleb and his descendants have lived for many generations in Hants County, Nova Scotia.

Caleb Lake died in 1806 in Newport, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. "Caleb Lake, also a Newport yeoman, died aged 90 in 1812, was able to leave his widow £10 a year, paid quarterly, together with two bushels of wheat per year." from Julian Gwyn's Planter Nova Scotia.
