Find A Grave Banker and Spanish-American War veteran. A Middlebury College student, in 1898 he was elected commander of the Vermont National Guard's Company I, 1st Vermont Infantry Regiment with the rank of captain. The unit underwent training in Georgia, but the war ended before it left the country, and it returned to Vermont later that year. Waterman graduated from Middlebury in 1899, and remained in the national Guard for several years. He was a Trust Officer at Chemical National Bank in New York City for many years, and held the same post for the Berkshire Trust Company in Pittsfield, Massachusetts from 1925 until retiring in 1934, when he retired to Brattleboro.
