REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERAN:

Son of Joseph Griswold and Temperance (Lay) Griswold; husband of Sarah (Hull) Griswold. Nathan served with Colonial troops as ensign of the 12th Co., 7th Regt. in 1760; Lieutenant of the 10th Co., 7th Regt. in 1761; captain of the 12th Co., 7th Regt. in 1766. He also served as a captain in 1777 during Tryon's Raid and the Danbury Alarm of the Revolutionary War.
