Richard Haynie is a Qualifying Ancestor of the Jamestowne SocietyRichard Haynie was a Virginia colonist.Richard Haynie was commended in the Northumberland court records for his assistance July 18-19, 1664, in capturing several seamen for unlawful acts. (Northumberland County Record Book 15, pp 131-132). />
He was a captain in the militia of Northumberland Co., and ordered to serve in during the French & Indian War on March 19, 1701/02. He again appears as a militia officer June 17, 1703. (Order of Council, Northumberland Co., bearing date 17 June 1703; Her Majesty's Colony and Dominion of Virginia: Field Officer, Captain, Rich'd Haynie under Colonel Robert Carter.) (Virginia's Colonial Soldiers, Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck; Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1988; pp. 219, 234). />
He also represented Northumberland Co. in the Virginia House of Burgesses 1695-1698, 1703-1705. As to Captain Richard Haynie's service as a Burgess, see Standard's Colonial Virginia Register (Book). Richard was an attorney and was appointed sheriff of Northumberland County in 1706 and 1707 (English Duplicates of Lost Virginia Records, comp. by Louis des Cognets, Jr., 1958).
Richard and his wife were fined in 1715 for not attending church.
