About Capt. Robert Taylor "Bob" Pollard
POLLARD Bob (R.T.), 84, of OKC died May 10, 1997 at Mercy Hospital. Bob was born Feb. 4, 1913 in Fresno, Calif. He was raised in Lawton, Ok, by his parents Alta & Alva Pollard. While in Lawton, he became an Eagle Scout and graduated valedictorian of his high school in 1931. He went on to receive degrees in Civil & Geological Engineering and a Masters of Civil Engineering from OU. Bob worked as an independent consulting Professional Engineer in Okla (No. 910), Kansas and Texas until he retired in 1982. While at OU he was a member of the Acacia fraternity and the RUF-NEKS. Bob served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific. Both Bob and Margaret, his wife, were active members of Christ the King Share & Care Club, DayBreak and Macular Degeneration Support Group. Bob designed and built his own home, enjoyed camping, taught fencing, and traveled all over the world. His philosophy of life was "Keep a positive Attitude and be thankful for everything." He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother A.L. Pollard Jr. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret L. Pollard; his daughter, Jane Ellen Pollard-Fridlund; & his son, James Robert Pollard; 4 grandsons, John, David, Stephen & Anthony; & 2 granddaughters, Genevieve & Emily. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in OKC. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 on Thursday, May 15, 1997 at Christ the King Church with graveside services at Resurrection following the mass. SMITH & KERNKE
