Selah Noble Norton m. 1) Chloe Butler, d. 1776, age 28; m. 2) Anne Porter, b. 1756, daughter of Judge Eleazor and Anna Pitkin Porter of Hadley. Anne Porter Norton died in E. Hartford 20 Feb. 1850, age 93, and was buried there, Selah appears to have been the son of Job Norton, b. Feb. 1719/20 in Conn., descended from John Norton of Branford, Conn. Selah came to Ashfield in 1793 with his second wife and their surviving children. Job Norton, was b. 1776. He married Pamelia/Permelia ____, b.1780, d. 1839, age 59, at Grand Haven, Mich. She was living with their daughter, Caroline, who m. 1836 at Ashfield Thomas Wait White, son of Ashfield's Thomas and Hannah (Harwood) White. Thomas and Caroline moved to Michigan.Another was Anne Norton, who m. Cotton Mather of Ashfield. They had a daughter, Anne Mather, who m. William Smith, son of Daniel and Irinda Goodwin Smith of Ashfield. Another daughter of Selah and Anne was Elizabeth Norton. She m. Dr. Ephraim Little of Cummington. They moved to St. Albans, Vt. Their daughter, Mary Ann Little, m. Rev. Worthington Smith of Hadley. They moved to St. Albans. This info came from their son, Edward Smith from St. Paul, Minn. in 1877 to H.S. Ranney. Note: Selah was the owner of "Beautiful Bay", the sire of "Figure", the horse from which Selah's friend, Justin Morgan, founded his famous horse breed in Vermont.
