About Capt. Thomas Smoot
Thomas Smoot was the son of Thomas Smoot and his wife, Jane Batten.
Thomas wrote a will in Charles County, Maryland on 6 January 1704. His wife, Elizabeth Barton, was not named in it, so it is assumed she was deceased by this date.[1] Some of the children named in Thomas' will were named in the will of their grandfather, Capt. William Barton.[2]
Children named in Will
Sons
- Barton (named as eldest son; not yet 21 in 1704/5 but over 18, as he was appointed co-Executor with his uncle, Lt. Col. William Barton. He was also named in the will of his grandfather, Capt. William Barton in 1717.[4])
