About Capt. William Stone

"William Stone was born in old Warwick, the year before his father moved to Mashantatack.... It is very probable that John Stone died with this son, as he, William, owned and lived upon the farm which Hugh Stone bought of Susan Lawrence, and which, at Hugh's death, passed into the possession of John. On this farm William, lived till the year 1779, when he sold the farm to Dr. William Aldrich, and with his son, Jabez Stone, moved to Coventry, where, seven years afterwards, he died, aged 74.... Capt. William Stone, as he was usually called, was a man of talent and integrity, and, in his day, was highly respected, filling many important military and civil offices. He married Miss Eleanor Westcott, who died before he removed to Coventry."[1]
