Biography

Eliakim Norton was born on Martha's Vineyard -- presumably at Edgartown, his father's known residence -- in 1716, a son of Ebenezer Norton and Deborah (Mayhew) Norton. A farmer, he married Mayflower descendant Maria Presbury "abt. 1737, who was b. abt. 1720 and d. 12 Mch. 1807"; he died in very early April of 1805, and his will (made some 22 years earlier) was probated on the 18th of October of that year.[1] He is buried in West Tisbury's Lambert's Cove Cemetery.[2]
