About Major Lindley Miller (USA)

Captain Lindley Miller served as an officer of a black infantry regiment during the Civil War and wrote the "Marching Song of the First Arkansas."

Civil War Union Army Officer. He served during the Civil War first as a Captain in the 46th United States Colored Troops, then as Major of the 72nd United States Colored Troops. He died of typhoid fever in New York City, New York on July 2, 1864.
