Capt. Michael Barrus (son of Ebenezer and cousin of Abraham Barrus)

Married Elizabeth Simonds, b. July 13, 1756, of Warwick, Feb. 16, 1774. He came from Cumberland, 1772, with his father, and bought Edward Ainsworth'sfarm, L. 2, R. 12, the place now owned by Asahel Kelton. The house now on the premises was raised on the day of the battle of Bennington, Aug. 16, 1777. He d. Nov. 26, 1834, aged 83 ; she d. Dec. 7, 1845.
Had eight children that survived early childhood, viz. :

  1. Ebenezer, b. Aug. 21, 1774 ;
  2. Tirzah, b. Nov. 14, 1776, m. Nathan Cass ;
  3. Michael, b. Sept. 12, 1779 ;
  4. Sarah, b. Nov. 25, 1781 ;
  5. Benjamin, b. April 3, 1783 ;
  6. Sibbel, b. Jan. 27, 1785, m. Nahum Grout ;
  7. Samuel, b. May 23, 1790 ;
  8. William, b. June 5, 1793, went west ;
  9. Hannah, d. young.
