About Captain Peter Cook, I
Peter Cook & family were of the Society of Friends. He was Captainof the 1st
Company of Scituate of the Providence County Regiment, June 1769 andin June
1770 he was Captain of Scituate Troop of Horse of Second Company ofProvidence.
He was a member of the Committee of Correspondence of Scituate, RI in
September 1774. He is mentioned in "Records of the Colony of RhodeIsland, Vol
VII", pg 283. He supposedly received 700 acres of land in Foster, RIfor his
military services. His residence remained in Scituate after 1768.
