Captain Sir Anthony Henry Thorold, 15th Bt. was born on 7 September 1903. He is the son of Sir James Ernest Thorold, 14th Bt. and Katharine Tindal-Atkinson. He married Jocelyn Elaine Laura Heathcote-Smith, daughter of Sir Clifford Edward Heathcote-Smith and Helene Spiegelthal, on 28 August 1939. He died on 1 May 1999 at age 95.
He gained the title of 15th Baronet Thorold. He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England. He was educated at Royal Naval College, Darmouth, Devon, England. He was served Royal Navy (ret as Captain 1956), WW II, Naval Assist Sec Cabinet Office 1945–48, Sr Officer Fishery Protection Flotilla 1949–50, Captain HMS Dryad, Navigation and Direction Sch 1951–52, Cdre-in-Charge Hong Kong 1953–55, Naval Aide-de-Camp in 1917. He fought in the Second World War. He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy. He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1942.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1942 and bar (1945). He retired from the military in 1956, with the rank of Captain, late of the Royal Navy. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for Lincolnshire in 1959. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kesteven in 1961. He held the office of High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1968.
