According to Klövedal Parish Records, Carl 'went missing' between 1881-96.

This story was recounted by the very knowledgeable Nils Nilsson on the island of Tjörn to us, and translated by Rolf Nilsson. There was a wealthy farmer in Halsback named Goran Rafvstedt, who had working on his farm a young maiden whom Carl Andreasson wished to court, but the two men did not see eye to eye on many a topic, and so Carl's proposal was rejected by Rafvstedt, who set his dog upon Carl. In those days, all the young lads carried knives, and Carl thus killed the dog, throwing the animal over the fence into the sea. Now, two enemies cannot reside in the same town, so Carl was publicly forgiven by the parish pastor. He then set off for Göteborg, registered himself as a seaman and took a ship out of the country. The dog's name was Vector. In the Sjömansrulla of Tobias Johansson, who was aboard the ship "Ellida" with Carl, the ship left Goteborg on March 15 1880, destined for England.

Carl left his sailing days behind him when he arrived in Australia. Moving up inland from his last port in Adelaide, he took up farm work as he travelled, meeting the Block family in Monarto. He bought a farm at Antwerp, near the Ebenezer Mission, before marrying Wilhelmina Block. They had a daughter, Selma, but Wilhelmina died when Selma was only 14 months old. Carl then married Wilhelmina's sister, Caroline, forming the union from which this tree descends. He sold the farm at Antwerp to his brother-in-law, and purchased 400 acres up the north of Tarranyurk, and later added another 800 acres to it, which was cleared to make thewheat farm that supported his family for the next couple of generations.

Ref: From notes by Carl's son, Mick Anderson (Berthold Max Vernon).

Carl was married to Wilhelmina Pauline Block on March 13 1894 at Mr Carl Block's residence at Kaytil, Victoria. He was baptized on March 21 1897, made his First Communion on May 25 1919, and confirmed on May 4 1919 in the Diocese of Ballarat, Victoria.
