"CARL AUGUST FERDINAND STELZNER was born about 1780 in Germany (Name provided on Ernst Otto Stelzner's Pension file by his wife Eugenie E Hunger. Per file said was a farmer in Germany. Also refer to Ernst's baptism certificate received from Dobeln). He died before 1846 in Dobeln, Mittelsachsen, Saxony, Germany (Per Ernst marriage record in 1846, referred to his "late" father ie; had already passed.). He married FRIEDERICKE PETZSCH. She was born about 1785 in Germany.

The following is from Kathrin Kweseleit (2016), a researcher in Germany. 'As it seems , Ernst Otto's parents were not only farmers but the inhabitants of a knight's estate at Ebersbach which belonged to the Petzsch family at the time. Carl August Ferdinand, Ernst Otto's father owned ... Birkenhain another manor. Carl August Ferdinand beside that was an economist, but they could have used the term as 'bailiff'. But I rather believe he has studied and by that it was his profession. Which would be another indicator for high status in this time. They were not simple farmers but belonged to the upper class.'"
The manor at Ebersbach (by Döbeln) was owned by Johanne Friederike's father Johann Christian Petzsch. Ownership of Ebersbach was transferred to her brother, Johann August Petzsch, on June 1, 1823. By 1818, Johanne Friederike and her husband Carl August Stelzner were living in Döbeln near Friederike's family. Their son Ernst Otto was born and baptized in 1818 in Döbeln. By Laura Agnes Stelzner's birth in 1823, the couple owned the monastery's farm at Döbeln.
