Carmen de los Santos Garcia

When I was a young girl, my very old townmates of San Antonio, Zambales, who knew Lola Carmen then, told me that I reminded them of Donya Carmen Magsaysay because I look like her. (That's probably why I was named Carmencita.) They also told me that Donya Carmen was a very generous loving woman. Whenever they went to Lola Carmen's store to buy a necessity on credit because they didn't have the money then, Lola would give them the commodity free. It was very nice to know that Lola was a great caring woman. I only regret that I was not able to see her and hug her and experience the love of a Lola at all. God bless her soul! I was told that Papa was only 16 yrs. old when that great tragedy happened on a November 15 and took away her life and all the others aboard the ship "Donya Luisa" caused by a typhoon.
