Mrs. Caroline M. Beal, wife of Rev. Jesse Beal, of Blackhawk township, of whose illness mention has been made in this column, died at 12:30 p.m. last Saturday. She was a sister of Mathias, William and J.W. Miller of this township and was interred in the cemetery located on Wm. Miller's farm, on Sunday afternoon. At 3 p.m., immediately after the interment the funeral services were held in the German Baptist church, of which denomination she was a devoted and consistent member. The attendance at the funeral was very large, as large as at any similar service ever held in the township. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss, who have the unreserved sympathy of all who know them. The funeral discourse was preached by Rev. J.G. Royer, of Mt. Morris, Ill., from the word "For me to live is Christ, to die is gain." Her disease was that of dropsy and her age was 50 years, two months and 11 days. Mrs. Beal has been a sufferer for years from the distressing disease of asthma, but bore her sufferings with patience and christian fortitude. She was universally esteemed and her loss will be deeply felt.
