Caroline Johnson, age 23 (born in Virginia), was found living in the Jacob and Elizabeth Bush household during the 1850 Lewis County Census. At the time, it is not known what her relationship to the Jacob Bush family was. She may have been orphaned, and the Jacob Bush family former friends or neighbors of her parents. The 1850 Lewis County census for the Jacob Bush household reads:
