Caroline Lindauer

Caroline Ritter (1846-?) aka Carrie Ritter (b. 1846, France - d. unknown, Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA).

Marriage:

She married Charles Lindauer in Manhattan. The "Charles Lindauer" in the 1870 census who was her husband was born in 1840 in Pennsylvania. Charles may be Charles Frederick Lindauer (1836-1921) who was also married to Anna Augusta Kershaw (1841-1931). It is uncertain if there are two Charles Lindauers that are closely related and of similar age, or if Charles Frederick Lindauer was a polygamist.

NOTE: Based on burial records, these were two different Charles Lindauers! -LK, 1/2019

Children:

They had the following children: George Lindauer (1867-?); Charlotte Lindauer (1869-1894) aka Lottie Lindauer; Clara Louise Lindauer (1871-?); Oskar Sorelt Lindauer (1872-?); and Edwin Charles Lindauer (1874-?) who was institutionalized in the Hudson County Insane Asylum in Secaucus, New Jersey.

Children raised by Lindauers:

It appears that after her death, her children were raised by John Jacob Lindauer and his wife.

Lottie Lindauer:

Lottie Lindauer may be the "Lottie Landus" buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn in the Arthur Oscar Moritz Lindauer and Ann Augusta Kershaw gravesite.
