Caroline (Harris) Richmond was born in Vermont in 1804.

She married Amaziah Richmond on January 1, 1827 in Westmoreland County, Oneida, New York.

Caroline and Amaziah had 11 children.

Caroline died at the age of 68 in 1873.

The family moved from New York to farm country near Newark, Big Grove, and Naperville, Illinois sometime during the 1850's. A number of Richmond's are buried at the Millington Newark Cemetery.

One of her daughters, Caroline Mathilda (Richmond) Lent was named after her. Very sadly for Caroline Lent, her mother Caroline (Harris) Richmond, her daughter Ellen (Lent) Corbiere and the newborn baby of Ellen's, Ella, all died in early 1873.

Obituary (image from same page): February 11th, 1873, in the town of Big Grove, Kendall Co., CAROLINE H. RICHMOND, wife of A. Richmond, age 68 years. Deceased was born Nov. 12th, 1804, town of Reading, Windsor Co., Vermont. She leaves an affectionate husband and eleven children - five sons and six daughters, 28 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, to mourn her loss.

Ben M. Angel notes: Apparently her maiden name was Rogers, according to the Richmond family history posted on her husband's Find A Grave profile. Harris is either a middle name or a name from an earlier marriage - unclear which. Rogers, likewise, could be either a maiden name or an earlier married name. Hopefully someone more clear on this information can correct at some future point.
