Father killed by Indians. Adopted by family. I can't find information to support this other than what my mother has said. </line><line /><line>Possible last name of the family he was adopted into was Gonzales.</line><line /><line>From my mother's biography:
"My grandfather was raised by a stepfather because his father was killed by Indians. He used to go out and sell things with his wagon and on the way back home, they attacked him. That’s what my father said that his father told him.
He didn’t know much about him. Just what his mother and aunts (sisters of his father) told him.
His mother was pregnant when he was killed. She got remarried before he was born. He was going by the last name Gonzales which was the name of his stepfather​.</line><line /><line>His aunts found out and told him that his last name was Veloz."
