This family originated in Holland with a certain Asmund Mattsson, fl. during the 1600:s. He had issue a son, Nils Asmundsson Borgström, born at Amsterdam, arrived in Sweden about 1650. His son, Erik Nilsson Borgström, died 1720, married Catharina Ysing (born 1672, died 1751 at Borgvik, buried 11 February 1751, daughter of Johan Ysing and one of his two wives (he in turn being the son of Gierdt Ysing and Carin Olofsdotter) [communicated by Ulf Persson, 17/07/2006]. They had issue a son, Johan Adelheim, born 1695, ennobled with the surname Adelheim in 1743, died 17 March 1763, married 1stly 25 June 1731 at Munkfors, Ransäter parish, co. Värmland to Brita Bratt (born 19 July 1710 at Bada, Fruksände parish, co. Värmland, died 3 April 1732, daughter of Lars Johansson Bratt and Brita Olofsdotter Hedengren); married 2ndly 1739 to Anna Lisa Hjertzeel (born 11 November 1700, died 3 November 1745, daughter of Gustaf Hjertzeel and Brita Johansdotter); married 3rdly 18 September 1755 at S. Dingelvik to baroness Christina Magdalena Roos (born 3 January 1719, died 6 September 1784 at Kristineberg, Steneby parish, co. Älvsborg).
