Sebastian, son of the advocate Sebastian Gercken. zu Magdeburg, attended the schools of Magdeburg and Quedlinburg, studied in Jena in 1674, received his doctorate in Greifswalde in 1687, then practiced in Lübeck as an advocate, in 1695 councilor, 1706 mayor, died February 8th 171O, was married to Catharua Elisabeth von Dassel, daughter of Georg von Dassel.
