Craven's transcription of this stone gives the age at death of 33 yrs. However, her age is given at 53 years in : Frost 'L. I. Cemeteries' vol. 7, pp. 57-72; L. D. S. microfilm # 0017118.
The former would give a birth year of 1768, the latter a birth year of 1748. A factor that favors Frost's figure is the proximity of their graves. Gershom b 1744 is at Lot R142 and this Catharine is at Lot R140.
Assuming that Frost is correct, this grave would appear to belong to Catherine Fanning, the lady in the Salmon Marriage record for "Garshom oldredg and Carthrine faning" on Nov 14, 1771.
Her parents were James and Deborah (Warner) Fanning.
She and Gershom had four children: Mary, James, Hannah and Samuel - all baptized in Mattituck, Long Island, New York.
