Catherine (Leedy) Garber was born the 2nd of 12 children to Pioneer "Big" John & Elizabeth (Keith) Leedy. When she was only 2 years old, her family migrated by wagon from Morrison's Cove, Woodbury Twp., Bedford Co., PA via Fort Pitt to Sec. 35, Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH.
Catherine Leedy was married on 09-17-1825 in Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH to Samuel B. Garber, Jr. He was the son of Samuel Garber, Sr. & Anna Maria (Mock) Garber.
Samuel B. & Catherine Garber made their home on Section 35, Jefferson Twp., Richland Co., OH, on the same tract of land her father settled on 06-06-1811. Family tradition says that Samuel B. Garber, Jr. would make trips through the OH wilderness with a wagons full of grain bound for the Lake Erie port at Sandusky, OH. An Indian by the name of "Old Tom" would stay with his family until Samuel returned.
