Catherine and John Neill arrived in South Australia in the late 1840's from Westmeath Ireland.
A son John was born and died at Haandorf South Australia. The family moved to Victoria in the mid 1850's and were on the Back Creek Goldfield (Maryborough, Vic.) for a time.
Husband John, aged 43, was found drowned in the Avoca River at Charlton in April 1876.
Catherine was reported in the Bendigo Advertiser in February 1881 with an approved land lease for West Charlton.
