Catherine Osborne, the wife of Epes Sargent, has been described as a "lady of rare virtue, of winning conversation and manners, benevolent and charitable to the highest degree." Her portrait, considered one of the best painted by Copley in the United States, representing a thin, rather austere-looking woman holding a riding-whip, also belongs to Mrs. Clements.
