BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cathryn A. Seeliger, age 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at Brookdale in Bowling Green, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Cathryn was born on Oct. 2, 1922, in Cambridge, Wis., the daughter of Evan and Clara (Strommen) Norgord. She attended one-room, rural Prairie Queen School. After the family moved to the Monona area, she graduated from Frank Allis Elementary and then East High School. Cathryn then attended the University of Wisconsin and Madison Business School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Women's Reserve in 1943. After graduating from the Navy Meteorology School she traveled with the first wave of Women Marines into a war zone in Oahu. After her discharge, Cathryn was united in marriage to Walter E. Seeliger on Sept. 27, 1946. She worked for the University of Wisconsin, the State Board of Health and Madison Public Schools before co-founding The Artisan Gift Shoppe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter; brother, Evan; sister, Dorothy Ellestad; brother-in-law, Ted Ellestad; and daughter-in-law, Donna. She is survived by two sons, Dan and Scott (Karen); grandson, Brent; three granddaughters, Keri (Tony) Buff, Kori (Kevin) Atwood and Tiffany (Todd) Shull; and seven great-grandchildren, Scotty, Max and Mia Buff, Kloe and Kolin Atwood and Taylor and Toby Shull. She is also survived by three brothers, George (Jinny), James (Beth) and Richard (Joan); two sisters, Audrey Simon and Ruth Pesch; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Nov. 27, 2015, at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, Cottage Grove, at 3 p.m. with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will follow at DOOR CREEK GOLF CLUB. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
