About Cecil Henry Tippett
Moved to Luanshya, Zambia as a young 17 year old lad with his family. Worked on the mines eventually qualifying as an Assayist. His first wife - Hazel Elizabeth Hill (1917 - 1935) died of black water fever leaving behind a 5 month old daughter Cecily Adris. Met and married Mary Van Ryneveld and had a further 3 children. They moved to Buhemba, Tanganyika. His love was snooker of which he excelled; hunting and tennis. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was very liked by all who met him. As a father he was the best. In 1954 Mary moved the children to Nairobi and this commenced the marital seperation. In 1960 he took on a contract position in Ghana on a gold mine. By 1961 his youngest daughter (Jill) joined him. He did 3 terms there and then moved to England, Cornwall, again with his youngest daughter and worked on the mines. In 1967 he was diagnosed with Cancer and Jill arranged for him to be flown back to Kenya where all the family - including Mary, were with him when he died 6 months later.
