Chadwell Brittain married his cousin Sarah Brittains. From a letter of James Brittain of Louisiana (son of Park's Nathaniel) to Isabel Brittain/Mesler: "Uncle Chadwell who married our father's sister Aunt Sally and the last known of them they owned the old home in Powell's Valley ... Aunt sally married her cousin and in this there is something of a romance. When Grandfather (Parks) started to move from Kentucky, aunt Sally started with him and Uncle Chadwell followed and at the first night's camping place, stole his girl and ran off an married her and returned to the old home in Powell's Valley."
