Chana died of tuberculosis, according to information Stephen Hillel Goldstein, her great-grandson, wrote in a letter to the American Jewish Historical Society on Oct. 3, 1983. He had a copy of the letter on Aug. 19, 2009. A plaque in her memory is on the wall of Degel Israel Congregation, 557 Thompson Blvd., Watertown, NY, and Stephen saw it there in 1982. Emmeline Rothschild Morris, daughter of Chana's daughter, Rose Alpert Rothschild Baker Frost, arranged to have the Alpert memorial plaques together in the second vertical row. |
